My Grandfather's Music - (Composed for the piano)

Return to the Index page

My grandfather, like many of his generation, grew up with the piano. He played regularly all his life as a pub-pianist/accompanist in a number of venues and was often sought out by the singers in order to transpose music for them.

These pieces were written in the 1950's and 1960's, a number never getting to the stage of being given a title. I used Sibelius to produce a neater version of the manuscripts for myself and the family then produced a midi file which was fed into my Ikarus keyboard. This allowed me to adjust the tempo and the volume balance between the left and right hands (recorded as separate midi channels) then obtain a music file from this.

Note that some works were intended for further development, prevented by his death. 'Studies in G' started as seperate pieces, now put together as a collection to which I had to add the final few bars for the ending.

Should you want a copy of any of the tunes please contact me using phil@wersifan.co.uk and I will send you the appropriate midi file.
